Abstract

The current study aimed to Isolation and identification of some bacteria that cause urinary tract infection in pregnant women. 200 samples of midstream urine were collected from pregnant women suffering from symptoms of urinary tract infections, who attended the maternity, gynecological and children's hospital, for the period from the beginning of November (2021) to February (2022) and their ages ranged between (17-43) years. The results showed that the samples that gave bacterial growth were 101(50.5%), while 99(49.5%) showed negative bacterial growth, there are significant differences (P<0.05) between the two groups for growth. About the antibiotic sensitivity test, the results showed that E. coli bacteria were resistant to the antibiotics Ticarcillin, Piperacillin, Cefepime, and Aztreonam by 100%. Klebsiella pneumonia was 100% resistant to Ticarcillin, Piperacillin and Cefepime. Proteus mirabilis was 100% resistant to the antibiotics Ticarcillin, Clavulanic Acid, Tazobactam, Ceftazidim, Aztreonam. Pseudomonas aeruginosa was 100% resistant to Aztreonam, Piperacillin, and Clavunic acid. Staphylococcus aureus was resistant to the antibiotics Erythromycin, Clindamycin Fusidic Acid, Benzylpenicillin by 100%, Saphylococcus haemolyticus was resistant to the antibiotics Amoxicillin, Ampicillin Clavunic acid, Oxacillin, Imipenem, Meropenem 100%, Staphylococcus epidermidis was resistant to the antibiotics Fosfomycin, Fusidic acid, Tobramycin 100%, Enterococcus faecalis is 100% resistant to Teicoplani. The ability of bacteria to produce this enzyme varies, as the results of our current study showed that all isolates of Klepsiella pneumonia, Proteus mirabilis and Staph. aureus is 100% productive of this enzyme. Also, the results of the current study showed that all isolates of Staph aureus produced DNAse by 100%.
