Introduction Nanotechnology is an extremely fast-growing field with multiple applications in various fields. This field has become a very active area of research. The increase in the interest in the field of nanoparticles is due to their distinct properties which are attributed to their small size and high volume ratio. Recently, the use of Silver nanoparticles has increased on a large scale because of their superiority in chemical, physical, and biological properties. Silver is a widely used metal because of lesser cost and abundance. The study aimed to incorporate nanoparticles into the rapid repair material and check for its antimicrobial effect. Materials and Methods The method by which this study was done, is divided into 3 parts- Preparation of the nanoparticles, Incorporation of nanoparticles into the rapid repair material, and Checking of antimicrobial activity. Results The antimicrobial activity was tested in two steps. First, the antimicrobial activity of the solution alone was checked and the second step was to check the antimicrobial activity by using the prepared sample buttons. Statistics test was carried out using SPSS software. ANOVA and Post Hoc Tukey tests were conducted. A p-value of 0.001 and 0.002 was obtained for S.mutans and Lactobacillus respectively. Conclusion From the above-obtained results, we know that the silica mediated silver nanoparticle rapid repair material has a good antimicrobial property. Further study can be done to incorporate these nanoparticles into the conventional denture base material and to obtain a good antimicrobial activity.
