Molecular detection of rotavirus in children with gastroenteritis in Tikrit city–Iraq
Abstract
The current study was aimed to find the prevalence of group A rotavirus (RVA) among children under 5 years old with gastroenteritis in Tikrit city. For this purpose, 80 stool samples were collected, molecular detection by reverse transcription PCR using specific primers to VP7 gene and genotyping of rotavirus were conducted. The results showed group A rotavirus detected in rate of 42.5% (%53.1 in male and 27.1% in female)) in children under five years of age in Tikrit city).
